When we approached two of the most influential voices in product thinking — Jeff Gothelf and Josh Seiden, co-authors of Lean UX, Sense & Respond, and Who Does What By How Much?, we knew we had an opportunity to shape something meaningful for the global product design community.
Their vision? Create the official Figma and FigJam versions of their newly refined framework: the Lean Product Canvas — the evolved successor to what was formerly known as the Lean UX Canvas.
Together, we set out to not only digitize the canvas but to rethink it for the modern, collaborative product team — optimized for digital workshops, co-creation, and strategic alignment in distributed environments.
What began as the Lean UX Canvas — a framework for aligning cross-functional teams around outcomes — has matured into the Lean Strategy Canvas, a more holistic and strategic tool designed to help teams set direction before diving into execution.
This canvas doesn’t just ask, “What are we building?”
It asks, “Why are we building this?”
The renamed Lean Product Canvas becomes the essential first step in the product journey, encouraging teams to align around a shared purpose, identify obstacles early, and define actionable outcomes using the proven OKR (Objectives and Key Results) framework.
Working directly with Jeff Gothelf, we helped translate the canvas into a dynamic, workshop-friendly format using Figma and FigJam. Rather than a static board or PDF template, our goal was to:
Whether you’re a product strategist, UX facilitator, or startup founder, the new digital canvas allows you to run high-impact strategy sessions without switching tools or losing momentum.
Here’s what teams are already unlocking with this new digital version:
This isn’t just a template — it’s a strategic tool for the way we work now. The Lean Strategy Canvas in FigJam is ideal for:
And because it lives in Figma and FigJam, it integrates seamlessly into the design and product workflows teams already use.
At Arsonist AI, we believe in building tools that don’t just look good — they ignite collaboration and clarity. Partnering with Jeff Gothelf and Josh Seiden to evolve this canvas was more than a design project. It was a chance to help shape how teams think, align, and build with purpose.
The Lean Strategy Canvas is now available for use in both Figma and FigJam, free to duplicate and adapt.
